My grandmother was half cherokee. Her name was Katherine Watkins. Her mother was full Cherokee. Why is it so hard to find info on these families. Any suggestions?
Another story_ I remeber my mother talking about living in a hardburly coal camp. Joann Barnett. Her and her siblings would go to these flat rocks in the woods and play. Anyone no of any flat rocks? She said that there was indian writtings and pictures on them. One day Indian jumped out from the trees and screamed at them. this would have been in the early 1940's. They did not hurt them just scared them. My uncle was so scared he never spoke of it. Hillard Barnett. My mother told her boss about this story and he said it was not unusual for indians to come back to these areas during the world war. I would love to know where these rocks were. I will ask her which coal camp it was.
Sorry , I have been corrected. My grandmother was Katy Mae Watkins. I she died with childbirth with the second child. My Dad being the first. I asked about a Myrtle Watkins but they didnt say it sounded familar.

I am part Cherokee on my Mother's side of the family. My Mom was a Caudill and Hudson but I am not sure of her other relations. My Mom passed away a few year's ago so I can not find out anything else about my Heritage. I've been asked by several people if I am part Indian and I tell them yes. It makes me Proud that people recognize that I am part Native American.

would love to compare notes, I am direct descendant of aaron brock
The man that hath no music in himself, Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, Is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils, The motions of his spirit are dull as night, And his affections dark as Erebus: Let no such man be trusted-- Shakespeare (The Merchant of Venice V.i. 83-88)
i was told by family that my great grand father or great grandmother on my mother side of the family was a full blooded cherokee indian.. my great granfather was a spencer here in perry co.. they had a son named jacl s[emcer and I don't remeber the other boys in that family..
i am also of the Aaron Brock line, my ggrandparents are William Worth and Lavinia Osborne, my ggrandfather was James Floyd Brock, Nancy Jane Stepp. Grandfather was John Carter Brock,Lula Spoonamore. Mother is Barbara Brock. any help with native proof would be great!!
my great grandmother, zola napier, raised me and always told me that her mother, lucy, was half cherokee. its really hard to find anything about them because i'm fairly sure that for a long time, they didn't want to be found. more than likely, they would have been sent to a reservation if they had been, so they were very secretive.
even though the trace is far back i'm very proud to say i have native blood in me. although i'm more closely scottish/irish, with red hair and fair skin, so no one can tell!
