Well, Deaser1, you've outdone us all. I just saw your pictures and they are beautiful. I yelled at Gammaw and she came down and she immediately was picking out the one she wants. She's partial to Teddy bears, she has a room full. She said to tell you she'll trade you a quilt for one. You have a real talent, something that you should really be proud of. If you could part with one of them, I'll bet it would bring a good price for the reunion. Anyway, they are really beautiful, you should open up your own gallery and sell them.
I've finished my last walking stick for a few weeks. I have to decide which one to donate for my family reunion next week. I have about 20 sitting around the house, even one made from a vine. I consider it a "hobby" but I did sell one a couple of weeks ago and have a couple of people at church that said they want one. Gammaw said she would confirm what they want and we'll take them to church with us on Sunday.
Marmar, you're on our list! We'll be praying that your surgery will be successful with little recovery time. I can relate to your tough feet, we used to run up and down gravel roads barefooted with no problem at all. I'm like you, I only wear shoes when I have to but my feet are still tender.
Louami, that's a really pretty picture. Such beautiful colors in the sky! I love to watch thunderstorms but I don't want to be outside if lightning is in the area. That rainbow seems to say that the storm is over.
Annilou, it's good to hear from you. I remember that leisure time when we were youngsters was used to play in the woods or go swimming in the creek, and we didn't know what a hobby was either.
Carnas, we had milk cows when I was young and I remember my Mother going to York's grocery and picking out feed by the color and pattern on the feed sacks. She was a good seamstress and could make beautiful dresses out of them. I think half the people in Perry County wore something that was homemade. I don't think it made any of us feel inferior because of what we wore.
Everybody, have a great weekend. Deaser1, keep the pictures coming, and don't let Gammaw talk you out of anything. Everybody please keep posting, reading them has become addictive for us.

SG, the news about my favorite cousin Carew makes this a very sad day for me and my heart goes out to the family of Carew. Every year I always looked forward to seeing Carew at the reunion but now there will be a huge empty place. Sam, SG, Aunt Edna and Aunt Ida and the rest of the family, God bless and comfort you in your time of need. Carews wife and children must be going through a bad time right now and I pray God will be with them. Please post the time and place as to where he will be burried. Carew lived a life to go to Heaven and now he died to go to Heaven. He is with the Lord now. God bless every one. Lancelot

Lancelot, Uncle Carew's funeral will be Monday at 10:00 at the Brown Dobson funeral home In Hamilton , Oh. I don't know where he is going to be buried. Thanks everyone, for your good wishes, and words of comfort. I talked to his wife today and she sounded pretty good, she is a wonderful Christian lady, we all love her dearly. Please continue to pray for our family, and Carnas , I agree there will definitly be a void at the homecoming this year. But oh what a homecoming when we all meet again! It seems I have more waiting in Heaven than I have here! Now that will be a homecoming. Deaser1, I agree with everyone , You have a real talent, I especially liked the one with the butterflies. You really do need to take one to the homecoming this year, I have no idea of what to take. Well, its getting late, and I have to work tomorrow , so I'd better make plans for bed. Marmar, I hope your surgery goes well, you will have a lot of people in your prayer corner, this is a praying bunch, It is so wonderful to belong to this forum. God bless you all....................SG
Hey Everyone!! Finally the weekend and I have all but done nothing today. The weather was good to us today and I managed to get a few tomato plants put in the ground. Then the rest of the day was a lazy one. Marmar, hope the surgery goes well. All the prayer partners will be praying for you.
Deaser1, How beautiful. Believe me, you have talent!! Have you been hiding all that art work? You could sell anyone of them for big bucks. I noticed the detailing especially in the sunken ship. I collect clipper ship paintings as well as the wooden ones. Nothing is more pretty than the water and a sale boat. I used to go sailing a lot. The lighthouse is another beauty. The flowers look like columbines and it is also a winner. It would be hard to pick the best one because they are just perfect. It is so nice of you to share. I knew you could post them. Painting used to be one of my hobbies but I never got to the point of doing animals. I just can't imagine the likeness when I get the brush. I did more landscapes, flowers, old houses etc. You did so good on your animals. You must have the patience of Job. You know this forum could have their own ebay business. It seems that everyone on here has some kind of special talent. God has been good to us all. I was just overjoyed to see the paintings and got carried away. Roamer and Gammaw are always making canes and quilts and busy with helping others, some of you are helping others in many ways, others are praying and always doing special things. Everyone is different. Deaser, your painting skills are priceless. Now, we would like to hear from Carnas, Fe, SG, Lancelot, Fonze, Ed, Max and the others. What are your hobbies? It can even be gardening. My hobby is not raising doodles.....ha! ha! My grandmother used to make baskets and brooms. She didn't call it a hobby, she called it work. She did it because she liked it and needed the baskets and brooms on the farm. I remember all those hand made quilts and they were made to keep us warm in winter. At the time I didn't know what a hobby was either. Folks don't forget to pray for all who are on our list and remember SG's family. God bless and thanks Deaser1...................Louami
Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.
Hi folks, had to wait on a thunder storm to pass by tonight before I got on the computer, the last thing I'd need is to get struck by lighting. A few years back I was sitting on the "john" during a thunder storm and with My kind of luck it just had to happen, while I was sitting there "I was probably reading a nascar magazine at the time" and all of a sudden there was this loud bang "the most horrific and loudest sound that I had ever heard",believe Me people if I was constipated at that time, after that I was relieved. The lighting went through everything that was plugged into an electrical outlet,it even went through My telephone and destroyed it,its amazing what lighting can do,so I am careful when We get a storm anymore, mother nature talked Me a lesson.
Deaser,My brother,I'm so proud of You and I don't care if everyone knows that, those paintings are just beautiful,I love them all,I'm going to copy the one with the light house and show My wife and I already know what Shes going to say "Oh honey,do You think You could talk Him into giving us "or buying" that one,She redecorated our bathroom a few years back and guess what, all light houses, sea shells, and everything that pertains to the ocean,so be aware brother,She will like that one,I think I'll just e-mail Her the painting and not tell Her where its from and see how much She'll be willing to pay for it.
Marmar, sure hope your shoulder gets better,I'll be praying for you, speaking of going bare footed, around the house here,I'm always going without shoes, even today I was outside weed eating and My wife was trimming rose busches and She asked Me if I had My shoes on,She wanted me to break a limb with My foot.Ha.
Well folks another storm is moving in,sooooo I'd better get off here, may "God" bless each of You. Later gang Carnas.
good sunday morning everyone, deaser, it was nice talking to you, and sharing some of the storyes with you, it's always good to hear a brothers voice, like carnus said your paintings are great, and we are very proud of you. this morning we were up at 7:30 and getting ready for church, this morninig kayla our granddoughter has a thing with pioneer club, she's so cute at three years old. Well sg, and deaser it's anybody's ballgame when the piston's and calv's meet, i'm sure glad to me it's just a game, HA HA, you guy's know i ain't got no finger nail's left, but may the best team win. well everyone got to get ready to go, so everyone have a great day, and we love ya, OH ALMOST FORGOT PRAY FOR THE FAMILY'S OF THE COAL MINER'S THAT LOST THERE LIVE"S NEAR HAZARD THANX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MAX
Folks, first off, I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your kind words regarding the photos of my paintings. Your complements are an inspiration, and really encourage me to keep at it. Beside my wife, you are the first people to see the paintings. I have a few more to photograph, and will post them if you don't mind. I wouldn't even object to criticism if you should notice something that I could do to improve my work. You can be my teachers. Carnas, believe it or not, that "package" I keep promising to send you was to include the painting of the light house. It's yours as soon as I can get together everything. Also, Gammaw, I need to know your three favorite colors. I will do the best I can to paint you a "teddy" bear (no exchange required). Again, thanks so much.
Well Sg, today is "D-Day"! It's a shame that one team, and one city, will be terribly disappointed after today's game. I hate to say it, but I think it will be the fans in Cleveland. We are proud we gave you a good battle though. Maybe in the future, Rasheed Wallace will not be so quick to take another team for granted, and to keep his mouth shut! I know that basketball is the furtherest thing from your mind right now, so the only thing I will say is, "may the best team win". I feel your hurt "Little One"! God Bless you, and your entire family through this difficult time.
Well, enough for now. I have to get mentally prepared for today's game. But, as Max so realistically said, it's only a game. Whoever wins or looses, will not change my life in any way. I hope Sg will give me a reprieve from the grave when this is all over. God Bless all of you! I pray EVERYONE had a great Sunday. Maybe I will get a chance to log on again later. Possibly post some more photos! Bye!!!
I hope your Sunday found you in church this morning. Gammaw and I did our greeting chores and got lots of hugs from my little buddies. I let Gammaw fill the candy bag this morning and she must not have filled it as much as I do, I nearly ran out. We had lots of youngsters today which is a very good thing.
I think Gammaw told you all that our pastor used one of my walking sticks in his sermon last Sunday. I had some people come to me saying they'd like to buy one. I took three to church today and sold two of them for $155 and had another guy wanting to come look at some others. I think the fact that we are using the money for missions helps open their pocketbooks a little, two of three have given us more that we asked for them.
Gammaw hasn't started packing yet for our trip home. She usually starts gathering up stuff at least a week in advance. We plan on going to Kentucky on Thursday and staying at least two weeks. My Mother and 2 uncles are in bad health and it seems to have dampened the excitement of the reunion. Gammaw and I will soon be the "old folks" in our family. It's sad to see them go downhill so fast.
We'll have internet access at our daughters so we can keep you posted on our trip. We'll be babysitting with our 13 year old grandaughter and 9 year old grandson, so don't expect a note every day. I'm sure they will keep Gammaw and I busy.

Good evening all, I hope everyone enjoyed Church today. We had our memorial service early this year, I wasen't expecting it this morning, I have to admit, it was pretty rough. One of our members took pictures of all the people we had lost since the Church was started and put them in a slide show with music. It broke my heart, It was beautiful, but I'm like Gammaw, I cry at the drop of a hat, and the way I've felt the last couple of days, I really didn't need a reason. I wasen't the only one crying though, I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. She really did a good job. Please continue praying for Uncle Carew's family. Tomorrow is the funeral, and I am really concerned about Mother and Aunt Ida. Gammaw, I did go back to the Doctor and talked to him a length, he is still convinced that I have nerve damage caused by the back problem. He wants me to take a different medication for a week, and If that doesn't make a difference, he wants me to have an MRI done on my back, I sure hope it helps. I really appreciate all of you praying for me. I have tues.-thurs off work, maybe that will help some. Deaser1, I did watch the game. I had told my Joe and my friend that I wasen't going to watch the last two, but I did. I'm glad its over with the Cavs. Yes, they did give us a run for it , they played hard, My husband told me today that if the Cavs. shared the ball and worked together the way the Pistons do, they would be unstoppable. and I agree. I had hoped we wouldn't have to play heat, but It looks like we will. Shaq gets on my nerves, he gets away with everything, and that makes me mad. He shouldn't be allowed to just walk up and smack someone in the back of the head! You are right, Rasheed did stick his foot in his mouth, he does tend to put it there quite often, but he's still one of my favorites on the team. I really do like your paintings , and if you would part with the one with the butterflies, I'd be happy to buy it. I used to do country painting on wood. and enjoyed it a lot, but I haven't in a couple or three years, It used to be quite a hobby. Think about the painting and let me know. Well, I am going to head for bed, I'll talk to all of you tomorrow. I love you all, take care and Deaser1, its been fun kidding around over Basketball, I sure hope the Pistons finish off on top. Behave yourself, and I love you my friend,..........God Bless.......SG
Hello my friends, Just a short post this afternoon to tell everyone hello. I'm trying to get everything ready for the trip to Ky. I have lots of yard work to do, mostly weeds to pull. I would have done it before now but they had just started and were too short to do any good. I put straw around my tomato plants this morning just in case they fall over while I am gone. Maybe I'll have some blooms or at least a few green ones when I return.
Our blackberry winter has disappeared and we're back in the 80's this week. I'm running fans and trying not to turn the air conditioner on yet. The cold makes me ache all over and I have to wear socks on my feet. SG, sure help your medicine helps. I'd go ahead and get the MRI if you have good insurance. The doctor found out how bad my back was once they did the MRI. He said he didn't know how I was walking. I tried to tell him I was not one to complain unless something bad was wrong. My bone spur is still giving me fits. Sometimes the outside of my left leg, near the knee with go numb and almost make me fall. I know it's because the bone spur is rubbing something it shouldn't. Most folks I talk to say the body will absorb the spur eventually. Well, I'm ready.
Tomorrow Roamer and I will help with a reception after a memorial service at our church. One of our members died suddenly of a heart attack and they have family coming in from California. We hope to give them something to eat before they make their way back West. Mr. Faulkner was my age and a quiet gentle man. He came into church in a wheelchair the past few Sundays and I thought it was because of his arthritis. I hugged him two weeks ago not knowing he was so near going to Heaven. I'm very glad I did.
We hope to head North on Thursday probably leaving around 9 a.m. We like to let the school buses get out of the way before we start. Pray for our journey and we'll definitely be posting and might even send some photos.
God bless you each and every one and don't forget to "let your light shine". Prayerfully, Gammaw
You are a little "stinker"! That is a terrible headline! Not funny at all! You know I'll be "rooting" for the Piston's now; especially to beat Miami and Shaq. We gotta find something else to "fuss and fight" about. Are you sure you don't want to get interested in baseball? Your Tiger's are in first place right now.
I've gotta do some arm twisting with the Mrs. before I can release the painting of the butterflies. You know there is not one person in the world that I would rather give it to than you. I'm so proud that you would even ask. If I can't twist the arm so that Linda will let me give it up, I will paint you an even nicer one. Deal?? I've got 60 Mexicans working in the garage, and they can "turn" out about 50 paintings an hour. (Lord, forgive me for saying that!)
I better go before I get into trouble. I'm still praying for you "Little One", even though you are a "stinker"! God Bless!
My turn! We just spent a wonderful evening with 3 of our little buddies in the subdivision. Remember Melanie, the young lady with the tumor? We kept their three little ones while they went to a Bible study session with a group from their church. Such a joy to keep them, even though I forget how much energy they have at their age. We tried to keep them occupied until it was their bedtime, played out in the yard and even took them down to the cul-de-sac to ride their bicycles and toy cars. We still don't know what's next with Melanie, she was to wait a month and see if the tumor is growing and decide then what to do. I didn't ask and she didn't volunteer any information, but I know it must always be on her mind, keep praying for her.
I have picked out the walking stick to take to the reunion so I just have to wait until Gammaw decides what else to take ;D. I'm really surprised she doesn't have more packed, we're leaving Thursday. One thing about her, she's NEVER late for anything. I appreciate that in a person, if they say they'll be somewhere at a certain time, they should be. I don't know what I'd do without her to keep me in line. She deserves a medal for putting up with me!!
It's late, I'm getting tired so I think I'll go upstairs for the night. I hope everybody is having a great week. Keep those posts coming.
Well, now I feel like I'm talking to myself, no posts in almost 24 hours. It's not Sunday, so no afternoon naps. I think it's Tuesday, at least that's what Gammaw says. I hope it's been a great day for you all!
Gammaw and I spent the afternoon at church. One of our members passed away on Friday and we had a memorial service for him this afternoon. Most of his family live in California so we included a reception for them after the service. Our members provided food and drink for them and they seemed very appreciative of the food and fellowship. Most of them were flying back to California tonight so we stayed with them until after 4pm. One of our pastors volunteered to coordinate their travel to the airport. It was a celebration of Dennis' life and such a sweet service.
Gammaw is still gathering up things to take to Kentucky, making lists, getting everything ready. We have a busy day tomorrow, I'll be working outside getting the yard ready for a two week trip and Gammaw will be checking her lists to make sure we're not forgetting nothing. If we go for a weekend or two weeks, it seems we always have a carload to take with us. I think we always take more that we really need, but that's the way it's always been. You can never have too much clean underwear!
I'm looking forward to the next two weeks. We'll get to see a lot of the family, some we haven't seen since last Memorial Day weekend. Gammaw and I will be visiting friends and family, babysitting with Miranda and Ramsey and just enjoying the days together. We'll be in touch, we might miss a few days, especially the upcoming weekend. The reunion starts Friday evening and will not be over until Sunday afternoon. This will be the first reunion in a few years that we have not lost a family member. I doubt that we'll make it another year, so many of them are getting really feeble. Like our pastor said today, we were born to die, it's just a matter of time.
I really hope you all are OK. Seems like a long time since some of you have posted. Remember, we're in this together. We miss hearing from you!
Enough for now. Have a great week and remember us during our travel on Thursday.
Yea Roamer, I don't think the forum has ever been this quiet. I don't know where everyone's off to. You are correct, today is Tuesday, because I have two bags in the garbage can. Sg is probably upset that the Piston's lost to "Big Daddy Shaq" and the Heat tonight. I sure am happy that I don't have those concerns anymore!
Wow, two full weeks in the "sticks"; we may never see you and Gammaw again. You might just decide to stay in beautiful Ky. I don't think so though; two weeks taking baths in that no. 3 tub is long enough. You gotta catch Gammaw in that tub again. We would love to see an updated photograph. I know if I got into one of those things now, they would have to bury me in it. I wouldn't be able to get out. I would be the first person in history buried in a round coffin. Can you imagine that?
Folks, I took a few more photos of my paintings. I "spruced" these up a bit, and put a frame around them. Hope you like 'em!!
