Houdiiii I'm just so proud to be here, I use to love hearing miney pearl say that, I can still remember mom and dad sitting around watching the grand ole opry, and still remember the laugh my dear mom had whenever miney started telling her joke's. speaking of joke's, and the man that use to make me roll was red skelaton, golly those day's seem like yesterday. and yet another one of my good ol boy's is gone, has everyone herd about don knoks? I loved him in the movie ghost and mr. chicken, he was so funny. isn't it sad how the cycle of life can make us feel? but isn't it a goosebump maker when we think of how we'll be reunited one day; when the eastern sky's split open, and we'll all be called up to join him; along with the one's that have gone on before us? just think of how that going to be my dear forum family, no more tear's, no more dieing; what a day that will be. iv'e chattered long enough i guess, hope everybody is ok on this monday night; cold up here in michigan tonight, boy can't hardly wait for spring to get here. well deasor, carus, sam, roamer, loumai, sg, & ponyexpress, and everyone else, love you all....................MAX
Well deaser1, we gave them a second chance, I think that makes us 46 and 9 or something like that, you can ask sg if you need to know exact, so sorry about the war wound that one of the calv's got in the game last night, but mr wallace paid for it, hope it was a big enough fine for ya. well bro. said enough, love you all............MAX
Well SG, I don't have much to say to you until I get both feet out of my mouth! As bad as this hurts...the Piston's are superior to the Cavalier's. At least they did make the game a little more exciting tonight. I must agree with you, the Piston's are going to be world champs!! I'm happy, 'cause you're happy!!
Sam, the thought of you being a liar never entered my mind. If you told me a red rose was white, I would believe you. Of course, that snake story was a "doozy", but it was true. Right?? Just like your fish story. That could have happened. Buddy, you and I are from the same "mold". As a matter of fact, I've always suspected you have eaten your share of blank blanks, but you were just too embarrassed to admit it. Come on out and admit it; that's nothing to be ashamed of. Have you ever been to a clam bake? I would rather eat blank blanks any day than pour those nasty clams down my throat. Ugh!! And shrimp cocktail...that's raw shrimp, in ice!! People actually eat those "crunchy" raw, cold, slimy white things. Ugh!! Oh, I'm getting nauseas!!
Max, I'm so happy to hear from you. Hope you and the family are doing OK! I was going to give you a call today, but lost track of time, and suddenly, it was too late. Tomorrow for sure. You sound a little down Brother! Don't be!! Our entire lives are just a "blink" of God's eyes. Life seems long for us because we have time to suffer and worry, but compared to what's in store, the troubles of this life will be insignificant. It's difficult, but we should try to consider the hardship and drudgery of this life as a Blessing; but only if we can maintain our Faith in Christ. I know you have that Faith, so cheer up. Tomorrow will always be better than today if we make it so. Right? Eyes straight, chin up, and never lose your humor. God Bless!!
Well, I've rambled enough! Louami, I miss your picture already. Roamer, I miss yours too! What are we going to do on the forum if you go to Louisiana for so long? We hillbilly's don't give up our folk for any old reason, but yours is the best; helping others. I suppose we can excuse you for that, but if you can't post, you will definitely be missed! I will just say "Howdy" to the rest of you folks. Prayers are continuing!! Stay warm and God Bless!!

Good evening everyone, I was hoping to see some posts on here tonight but it looks like me and Max are the only ones. Its 47-9 Max. They played pretty rough both games didn't they ? I think the one who shoved Ben Wallace should have gotten in trouble also , but Oh well, what do I know? You were talking about Red Skelton, I liked him too, he proved you could be funny without getting dirty, he was hilarious! I liked Don Knotts, also. You were talking about when we go up to meet the Lord, It sure is wonderful to think about. Jim preached on Heaven Sunday morning and I don't think there were too many dry eyes in the place, I know mine weren't! We have lost so many wonderful people , some close family members, and I'm anxious to sit down and talk with them, and tell them how much I missed them. But the thought of seeing Jesus, now that does something to my heart that is unexplainable, Its almost a hunger , the need to look in his face and thank him for what he did for me , face to face, now thats something to think about. Makes you wonder why anyone wants to hang on to this old place, don't it? I was hoping ponyexpress1 would get back on tonight, I'd like to know if she is who I think she is, I sure hope so. Well, I'm to tired to stay up any longer so I'll say goodnight, to all of you, remember the prayer requests , and remember I love you all. God Bless...........................SG

Well , I was going to go to bed. Deaser ,I won't say they are going to be world champs, but I sure hope so. Your King James is good, I think I've said that before, but they are running him to death. He seems to do most of the work for the whole team. I have enjoyed these two games, but I think there was too much "rough stuff" on both sides, why can't they just play basketball? There I go again. I'll try to shut up about Basketball. Yes, I would say you and sam are quite a bit alike, especially in the " blarney" department! Now me , I don't exaggerate and I don't make up wild tales , do I Sam? I knew you'd agree with me. Well, I really do have to get off here if I'm going to work tomorrow. I love you guys, and Deaser, don't be too depressed, as much as we love the sport, its just a game. love you lots, SG
How many of you have been chased by a "snow snake" - My Uncle Dan always told us that it was white and if it got a good hold on you - you'd freeze in a matter of min. Needless to say, I was never one that stayed out too long when there was snow on the ground...............
Well, two day's down and three to go, don't make much difrence, seems latly I have work to do on sat; but saturday takes away from the norm, and I don't have to get up as early, feels good to sleep inn when you get over 50, right deasor? oh and right carnus? can't forget about both you guy's being just a little older then me, but truth be known; I bet I feel older then both you guy's. sg. it sure will be wonderful there, you know like the old helm? It sure is nice to know that there are A lot of god fearing people on the forum, and people with faith that god is going to do great thing's for them when they ask; it's just great, please folk's remember me and my family when you guy's pray. I don't know if I really need to; but I think I need to ask you folk's to bare with me, I'm new at this thing, and sometimes I get in a hurry and make lots of mistakes, but I guess as long as you know where I'm coming from and what the word's really mean. HEY Deaser1, it sure was good talking to you today, as always, boy wev'e got to get togather this summer, it's been to long, of course like I said when we talked on the phone, I know how to drive and iv'e got an auto; so it's just as much on me as it is you, but we'll hook up sometime this spring or summer; that go's for you to carnus; i miss you guy's. man I can't beleave I've got so lost in this little note, sorry everybody! love all you people.........................MAX
evening all, how are you doing max, good to hear from you, i just opened your mail that you sent me about the tennessee wedding, thats a keeper my friend, my daughter saw it and said oh' dad, thats gross and i said yeah, thats why it's a keeper. you and your family will be in my prayers buddy, but do me a favor and keep me in your prayers too, i can always use another prayer.hey deaser, did i ever tell you about my big fishing trip. well my buddy wanted to go hunting but i wanted to go fishing, so he said he would bring his gun and we would go down the river and then he would hunt while i fished out of the boat. well he shot a squirrel but he didn't kill it and it fell in the boat, it got all tangled up in the fishing lines with all of my hooks on it and then jumped in the water, when we pulled in the fishing lines the squirrel was gone but there was six big bass on all of those hooks. now hows that for spending an afternoon. maybe some day i will teach you how to fish. now how's that for a doozy, or would that one be considered a (get this) humdinger. how is that for southern slang. roamer and gammaw, hope you guys are well this evening, louami, annielou, hope you ladies are having a good evening, sg, carnas, fe, pag, edd, and my buddy, ponyexpress, marmar and everyone, let us know where you guys are tonight. hopefully will check back in later. gb and bye bye. sam
Hi To Everyone, Max, don't you worry yourself one little bit about not knowing how to use one of these things. I have had classes in computers for 5 yrs. and still mess up. So, if you are teaching yourself you are doing a wonderful job. I very seldom use spell check because most of my vocabulary is unknown language. I'm a "holler gal" and have my own words. You and your family will be remembered in my prayers. Hang in there. Folks around here have been planting peas this week. I am not growing a garden this yr. It is too much work...I'm going to slow down and smell the coffee this summer...maybe a few tomato plants, that's it! Where is everyone It has been so quiet today and tonight. Sam,Annielou,Deaser, Carnes, Fe, Ed, Tadpole,Sg. Jump in! Roamer and Gammaw, it is good that you two work so well together. God has given you a talent and you both are using it in helping others. You are blessed...by blessing others.
Sam, I believe a plug nickle is worthless. I'll have to research that word to get the full meaning. Any how, I've heard about a plug mule too!! don't know what that means....also a plug of "baccker" (tobacco) Ever heard of a plug of Red Ox? I want to wish you all a good night and a great day tomorrow. It has just been a beautiful day here. Love to all, Louami
Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.
Hi Everybody, Gammaw's just about finished the baby quilt, she's hand sewing the binding around the edges, has one side to to. Can't wait to see what she starts on next.
I've had another great day. My cough is so much better, I went grocery shopping with Gammaw this afternoon and felt really good. I'm so glad to get rid of the chills and fever that I had most of last week.
I have a fish story for you, Sam. A buddy of mine was fishing one day in his boat, the lake was totally calm and nothing was biting. After a long time with no luck, he threw his rod and reel in the bottom of the boat, rummaged around in his tackle box, and found a bottle of bourbon that he had stashed away. He started sipping on the bourbon while relaxing in his boat. Suddenly he heard a splash close by and raised up and looked into the water just in time to see a big water snake swimming by with a big cricket in it's mouth. He grabbed the snake behind it's head, ripped the cricket out of it's mouth, poured a shot of bourbon down it's throat, and threw it back into the lake. He picked up his rod and reel and put the cricket on his hook, cast it out and caught a big bass on the first cast. Since he had no more bait, he laid down in the bottom of the boat and picked up the bottle of bourbon. After a few sips, he once again heard a splash near his boat. He raised up and looked, there was that big water snake again with another cricket in it's mouth... ;D
I hope everybody's day was as good as mine. I'll encourage Gammaw to post, I tried but she said she didn't have anything interesting to say. I'll have to keep after her.

Good evening everyone, Thought I'd get on for a minute before I call it a day. Hope everyone is well. The forum sure has been slow for the last couple of days. Max, don't you worry about your computer skills, just keep posting. It took me about five years just to get brave enough to try, then when I did, my son, who took computer in college , tried to teach me to use it and finally gave up and told me to get the 'video professor" or some such thing. I can type, but I know next to nothing about this thing! Deaser, where are you? You better get back on here, I have no one to pick on! Besides , I need my "Blarney" fix! ponyexpress1, I expected you to get back on today, don't give up on us.We want you on here with us! I have another prayer request, remember a little boy from our church, his name is Brandon. He was taken to the hospital with a very high fever, after getting a flu bug, they got his temp. down to 103 and sent him home, they said he had contacted a virus on top of the flu bug. please pray for him. I have two unspokens also. Well I'm going to get off here , I'll try to get back on again tonight if I don't get too sleepy, Love to all and God bless.........SG
hi everybody i wanted everyone to see the dog that angie saved when he was shot by a neighbor, when she got to where he was laying he was almost gone, but he raised his head and looked at her because she had been trying to take care of him. this picture was taken with his owner after he had spent 5 days in the animal hospital. they were so thankful to angie for the kindness she showed to their pet. this is the picture of bandit. he had followed another dog home and didnt know how to get back to his home, and the owners couldnt find him.
Evenin' All, I've just read the posts for the last two days to see what everyone is doing. Wish I could think of some "stories" to tell. Glad everyone is doing well and want to especially thank you all for your prayers for our daughter, Amy. Her stitches came out today and the pathology report was negative for any cancer cells. Praise the Lord for his goodness and mercy. Amy is a wonderful Christian woman. She and her husband live in Lexington and they are the youth leaders in their church. When I spoke with her this morning she said "it will be okay, Mom, and if I have cancer God will give me strength to deal with it". Three years ago we had quite a scare with her. She had melanoma on the calf fo her leg and had a lot of tissue removed. That was cancer and the doctor said it was the worst kind of skin cancer and would have taken her life in a year if she had not noticed it. Tonight we are so very thankful.
I also spoke with Mrs. Worth in Louisiana today. She had some workers ask her about parking their camper on her property, they would pay her electric bill and would finish the things she needs repairing as well as clear the rest of her property. That is also an answer to prayer. Those workers have the equipment to get the job done. Roamer and I had rakes and pitch forks and were slow in our efforts. The last day we were there a neighbor let Roamer borrow a new tractor to fill in the holes in the yard where the stumps were ground up. We accomplished a lot in a week and now God has sent more laborers to help her. There will be work to be done in that area for years. Continue to remember her in your prayers for comfort. She and Mr. Worth were married 43 years and I know she is lonely.
We love reading all the posts and enjoy the teasing that goes on. How is Cody? We know he is in God's hands but we need to remember his parents. I cannot imagine having a child so sick. How heartbreaking. We'll understand it all by and by.
It's about time for me to find my pillow and teddy bear. God's blessings to each of you and thank you again for being faithful to pray.
Sam, I thought I told some "whoppers", but you got me beat! Now we are on a roll. Reminds me of the days we would sit on Curt Richie's porch, and tell jokes and funny stories. While one person was telling a joke, the rest of us would be thinking further ahead about a joke or story that would top the one being told. Oh, would I loved to have had a tape recorder back then. Those recordings would be priceless! I got more education on that porch than I did in school. Unfortunately, I wasn't graded for it!
SG, I got a chance to see your picture last night. You know what worries me about meeting you now? I think when the Spirit in you, comes in contact with the Spirit in me, they will have to tie us down. Maybe that will be true with all our beautiful forum folks, but I can tell by looking at you that the presence of God surrounds you. Of course, I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I must say, you have a beautiful family, and I know you are very proud of them!
Max, it sure was great to chat with you today. Don't you worry about what you say on this forum. I don't think any of us would judge you. We're all in that big boat heading home, where all we have to do is bow our heads to one another, and speak volumes. It's all love, and that's all that matters! Like Edd said before, if we "pack" a poke, or "carry" a poke, the pock will still get home!
SG, did you recognize any of those 1963 grads from MC Napier High? I knew Don Nucci (could be misspelled). The thing I remember about him most is that he could throw a stone out of sight. He used to amaze us. He would swing his arm around a couple of times, and then hit his hip with his hand, and the rock would just keep going up until it disappeared. I don't know if they ever came down. Thinking back, I wonder if he was playing a trick on us? I don't think so, because we could see the rock leave his hand. He was also a good baseball pitcher. Fe, whatever happened to him?
Fe, for some reason I was unable to find the picture you posted of the dog that was shot. I will keep trying, because I do want to see it. Sam sent me a photo of Groundhog Hollow. I couldn't believe it! The road is actually paved. I remember when it was just a little gravel road, with a lot of holes. I hated to go up that hollow because it seemed everyone that lived up there had a mean dog. The dogs would always wait 'till you thought you were safe, and then sneak attack. That way you couldn't protect yourself. They would bite and hide! I think I still have a few scars on my legs from those dogs! With the exception of the paved road, Groundhog hollow looks much the same. I think I'm going to bring a pair of high boots to the reunion, and take a walk up that hollow while I'm there.
Well folks, that's my quota for today. No funny stuff and no arguments. I've gotta think of a funny story now to top Sam's and Roamers (that's going to be difficult). I will continue to pray with all my might for all that have requested prayer, and even mention those who haven't. We all need a little prayerful intervention in our lives. By the way Tadpole3, that "snow snake" is a new one on me. Sometimes I would wake up in that old house in Hardburly on a real cold morning feeling like something cold had touched me during the night. Maybe that was the "snow snake". My Mom used to beat us all with a broom handle to limber us up so that we could go to school. OK, that's it! God Bless and keep you all safe in his love!!
Good morning gang; The weather here was great today,a feller could get Spring fever, the temperture got up to around 70 degrees, tomorrow much of the same,My wife will want me outside doing chores I bet,I'll not mention anything that needs to be done and maybe She want say nothing, ye'll right, but I really welcome Spring, thats My favorite time of the year,I love warm weather. I remember back when I was growing up there in Hardburly when Spring time rolled around and how glad I was "no more carrying coal for fuel",we could open all the windows and let the warm breeze come through and all us kids knew that school was almost out.The community seemed to come alive once again, all the boys would be out playing ball, girls would be playing hop-stoch on main Street, all the old miners would be playing a friendly game of cards down on the lodge porch and all our parents would be getting the garden ready to plant "I myself remember many times when we were burning our gardens off that the fire got out of hand a few times",boy was that fun......I remember how beautiful the hills were with all the dog woods and red bud trees....I remember our parents never seen us kids much during warm weather "they always knew were we were though"because even though we had a great family and I dearly loved my Bros. and Sis," having been cramped up all winter with them"We did have our own friends and when warm weather hit we were gone, like Sg's Mother said We were all over those hills...Well folks I'll end this here but I could go on and on. Max;it was good to hear from you again, its so nice that you decided to paticipate in our little forum, believe me when I say "these people are great",when someone you've never met "Roamer"invites you into his home its something special. Deaser speaking of dogs,do you remember "spanky" that used to live on main street?,I think the owners were Davidsons,"He took a big chaw out of mine bottom once while I was riding a bicycle down main street",I hated to walk by that house,I was petrified of that dog. Well folks I've carried on enought, have a great Wedenday. Later Carnas....
hey you guy's- thanx so much for helping me to feel welcome, it really make's me feel real important, I haven't alway's felt welcome in my life, like when I was around 8 or 9 year's old, and my older brother's were going somewhere, I thought I was going to be able to go too! and then they turned around and saw me, and boy was I directed on another path down the holler, or up the holler whitch ever way i could run, but I found out what those ole teenage boy's were up to, and boy if I remember right, I don't think mom & dad really liked where they went or what they did, BUT I NEVER SAID A WORD!. and I have a few more tale's I could tale as well, but not now, so if any of my older siblings is reading this; you better be REAL nice to me, but I could never tell anything on the boy's to really make them turn red, love em to much for that, but boy they sure would'nt let me go to any of those wild rock&roll party's, but I did sneak to one one night, and man, I thought elvis, and the bettles, and chubby checkers, had invaded hardburly, there was more hair slinging, body shaking, and twisting whooooeeeee MAN, I went back home.........MAX
Hey Everybody, We had a beautiful day here in Georgia, temperature in the mid 70s and a sunny sky. I volunteered to was and wax Gammaw's car and soon found out just how weak I was from the past week. I finished it, though and it really looks good.
Our mission conference started this evening at church and we got home a few minutes ago. We had a huge crowd, lots of young ones, which is what a lot of the emphasis is on, the youth. The conference will continue through Sunday, so we will have a busy week.
I guess spring fever is here, lots of people outside getting yard work done. I can wait for a while, still some cold weather left, I'm afraid.
This board is quiet, maybe others are taking advantage of the good weather. I hope all are well and enjoying the changing season, I saw a few tree buds today. Spring is such a beautiful time of the year.
Our friend, Ann, in Louisiana is celebrating a birthday today, so I'm going to go call her before Gammaw goes to bed. She's upstairs with the heating pad on her knee..
Have a good evening everybody. We'll check in later..
howdy all, just getting back in from church and had to get caught up of the forum, it sort of makes my evening to get the news from everyone, carnas and roamer, i am glad that someone is getting to enjoy some nice weather, we don't have anything even close to 70 degrees, as a matter of fact we are supposed to get some sleet tonight followed by some snow tomorrow, how's that for some nice spring weather. makes you want to put on some shorts and lay out back in a lawn chair don't it. naaaaaaaaa. max, glad to see you are posting again, hang in there buddy, the more you post the better the news from everyone gets, now if we could get ponyexpress back on here, she is new too and needs to get on here and tell us some good stories. louami, thanks for giving me such a good rating on my fish story, maybe i can come up with another humdinger here shortly. annielou, we haven't heard anything from you in awhile, hop on here and check in with us and let us know if you are alright.sg,deaser, pag, ponyexpress and fe, hope you guys are ok. have a good night everyone, love you all. sam
Hi gang; Fe, Bandit is such a cute little dog I don't understand how anyone could shoot a animal like that. That guy may have to answer for that one of these days.I know one thing if someone shot my dog its untelling what I would do to Him. Well gang I guess Deaser and Edd are rejoicing tonight, our beloved Cats beat Tenn. tonight and maybe that'll put them into the n.c.a.a. tourney,I know Deaser is in seventh heaven right now. Sam,sorry about the cool weather up there but its suppose to cool down some here to but it got up to 76 here today. It was so nice to sit out side for a change,Mother nature has a way of teasing you and then bam, cold weather again. Havn't heard from Sg and Deaser today, maybe they have a truce between them that we don't know about, they're usally at each others throat on here each and every day, maybe both realized its a no win situation. Max; I can relate to your story about trying to follow our brothers to a party or anywhere else matter of factly. I do remember once when I was trying to follow my two older brothers to Tribbey from Hardburly "won't mention any names"but I was so desperate to keep up with them that I actually jumped off a cliff and almost killed myself,I can still remember the pain I was in after I jumped, felt like my stomach went up into my throat, knocked the breath out of me and I just sit there trying to regain my sencies and after awhile I just wondered back home, chalked one up for my bros. Fe,Annielou,Louami,Ed,Marmar,Sg,Sam,Deaser,Max,Roamer,Gammaw,Tadpole3,Ponyexpress1,Fonz and anybody else that I failed to memtion,Have a great Trursday. Later folks. Carnas.
