Sam...Thanks for posting the picture of your beautiful Mom. Have sent prayers for your family during this time of loss. She will be missed by many, but we have to remember, she is now strolling over Heaven with Jesus .
May God be with each of you as you go through your grieving at this time.
A real friend is "hard" to find, "difficult" to leave and "Impossible " to forget.
hi everybody it sure is a beautiful morning, the last day of june, seems like the summer is flying by even thought it has only been a couple of weeks, guess a lot of people will be traveling this week for the july 4th holiday. i have never seen so many hornets and bees as i have this year, yesterday while trying to work on my back porch, i kept getting attacked by them, i couldn't figure out where their nest was until i finally looked on the edge of the roof and there was a big hornets nest, they would attack by 4 or 5 at a time and you could not get away from them, i came in the house and got a spray bottle filled it with water, didn't help a bit, they got me several times and i finally came in the house, i went and got some bug spray and sprayed them this morning, i don't think i got all of them, i will spray again later and tear the nest down, it sure doesn't feel good getting stung with those things. a lot of times they build their nest in the ground and if you cut grass and run over the hole they are in they really get you. please pray for margie arnett's family, her daughter martha's husband died. margie was married to granville, eunice's brother. this is really a good year so far for the vegetables where it has rained so much, hope it continues to be that way, i have already picked several nice cucumers and my tomates are hanging in bunches but not ripe yet, still trying to figure the mystery plant out, i think it may be cauliflowers. everybody enjoy the day and if traveling for the 4th, please be careful. i hope everyone is making plans for our homecoming aug 31 at the hardburly park, it sure will be nice to see lots of people there to spend the day with us. talk to everybody later, watch out for flying biters.
hi everybody happy 4th of july week, i hope everyone will enjoy it, there are lots of people set up along side the road selling fireworks, i haven't heard if hazard is having a fireworks display this year, they usually have a big one. i was talking to one of my neighbors and he said he had killed 4 copperheads in his garden already this year and another neighbor saw some deers in their back yard, my dogs have been barking at night, that is probably what they are barking at, they are good watch dogs that let us know if anything is around. everybody have a good day.
hi everybody it's a really nice day, lots of people are out today, probably getting things ready for the 4th. i know when i was growing up we couldn't wait, there would be hot dogs, ice cream cones and watermelon to feast on, in those days treats were only on special occasions but now they are a everyday thing. there are lots of yard sales going on today, i stopped at the hardburly park and got a nice fruit bowl at a really good price. i have some pawpaw trees and they are full of the fruit, they have a taste like an overripe banana but you can't eat much of them they are so rich tasting, brody combs that lived on main st knew where every tree was and he would always pick them, he loved them, he would come visiting our neighbors every morning but he always stopped at the trees and filled his pockets full. also there was wheetthing richie who made a trip to the commissary everyday to buy his cigarettes and everything he wanted, they both loved to go to the post office and brody was usually the first one there everyday, just some good memories of the good people in hardburly. everybody be kind to everyone, think before you speak, sometimes words come out that we wish hadn't.
good morning everyone lots more rain in the forecast, sure hope this doesn't cause a lot of flooding, looks like 4th of july plans will have to be inside, but sometimes the weather will cooperate and people can still have fun outdoors. we went to carrs fork lake sunday and watched the fish from the bridge leading to the marina, i have never seen fish that big, it was fun watching them and the ducks, one duck swam up to us and just sat there, i think it probably wanted bread to eat but we forgot to take any, next time i hope to remember to take some for them. everybody enjoy your holiday weekend, drive careful if you plan on traveling, there will be lots of traffic on the road.
hi everybody i have some sad news to report. jenny lee crase died today. everyone will remember her working in her grocery store at tribbey and selling gas. she was a hard worker and one nice lady. we have walked many times to her store in the afternoon to get us a pop, then continue walking on to what we called duane. we will miss seeing her sitting on her porch waving at people as they drove by. please pray for boggie and the rest of the family. i will put the obituary on as soon as i find out the arrangements.
hi everybody watch out for flash floods, the rain is continuing for days yet, i look for trees to start falling with so much water in the ground, they can be heard falling all the time in the woods behind my house, the weight of them can't survive the soft ground from the rain. jenny lee crase's visitation will be friday night from 6-9 pm, at maggard's mountain view chapel, with additional church service at 7pm, the funeral will be at 1pm saturday at the funeral home. we can remember over the years jenny lee and red at the store, red always had someone there to play cards with, they were a well liked couple, i can remember going into the store to buy something and jenny lee would be washing her clothes on her wringer washer that she kept there, she liked to hang her clothes outside to dry. she was always busy doing something, when she was able you could see her walking her little pug dog, there are many memories of her and her store. everybody please pray for the family. talk to everybody later.
hi everybody today we said goodbye to jenna lee, a long time resident of tribbey, there are lots of memories of her, the many years she operated crase's grocery. she is in a better place now, but it still hurts to know that she is gone. she loved to keep up with everything going on around her, if she found anything out she would call billy and if billy found anything out he would call her, she loved canalope and billy would always buy her one often during the summer. homecoming day is only 8 weeks away, it will be here before we know it. i hope lots of you are planning to be here, we are hoping for a large crowd to join us, it will be saturday august 31 at the hardburly park, we will be talking about it and making plans until then, our tshirts will be white this year, so the picture we have on them will show clearly, it is a picture of the hardburly school with scenery around it that i hope everyone will enjoy, if you don't have anything else to do we would love to see you there. everybody have a good weekend.
hi forum family, sorry that I haven't been on here for awhile, just trying to deal with a few things and get my mind working again, I really don't know how to deal with a lot of things just yet, hopefully lots and lots of prayer will take care of that. so sorry to hear of jenna lee passing away, she was a fine person and I considered her a good friend, had many of her bologna sandwiches when I was younger, a very fine lady, I always waved to her when I was home visiting, another good one has left us. hope that everyone gets a break from the rains down there, we are having more here tonight, be safe, love each other and God Bless you all.---------sam
another start to the work week, the rain has stopped for awhile and it is a nice day. one lady is 100,000 dollars richer today, she bought the ten dollar lottery ticket at the bulan supermarket friday, i don't know who it was though. the county weed cutting machines are out , i sure hope they get the weeds up this way, the constant rain has really made it rough to keep a head of them, cut them one day and a couple of days later, they need to be cut again. lots better than shoveling snow in the winter. have a nice day everybody.
will fe i wished that was me won that 100,000.. sure could use it this weekend while I'm in Tennessee.. I'm sure glad to see the rays of sunshine out today.. i hope everybody have a good week and god bless u all..
hi everybody tweety have a good time in tennessee this week, that is a fun place to go. sam it is good to see you posting, i know you and your family have been through a difficult time. i have learned a good lesson on cutting briar bushes, yesterday while trying to clear out from around my garden, i reached up and cut a big long one, it fell down directly on my arm and the thorns on it went into it, you would have thought they had glue on each and everyone of them, they hung on so tight, i finally had to grab the end of it and jerk it off, which didn't feel so good, so if you are cutting briars make sure you are clear of the fall, who would ever thought about getting attacked by a bush. everybody enjoy the day, always do one thing worthwhile during the day, that way the day has not been wasted.
hi everybody hope everyone is enjoying this nice day. i have the t shirts for this year's homecoming, let me know if you want one, they are nice, they have a picture of the hardburly school on them with all the buildings that use to surround it, with children playing in the school yard, it brings so many memories back to your mind when you see the shirts. it has the house where the crase's used to live, the one room school house across the creek, the trees that were around it, boys playing basketball, playing marbles and chasing each other and the girls jumping rope, with a old modeled car sitting close to the bridge. i am sure everyone will enjoy the scenery. have a good day everybody.
hi everybody ninety degrees outside, just about too hot to do any outside work, the sun is shining for a change, but all the rain has been good for the outside plants. going over some of the notes that we have kept of our homecomings each year, i noticed that this is the 13th year that we have had t shirts, one year we had caps, i remember when my mom and her friends had the homecoming, when time came to eat they would be standing behind the long row of tables waiting to fill everybody's plates, we have had pig roasts in the past, the men would stay up all night roasting them to make sure that they would be ready, we had a greasy pole one year and the person that climbed to the top got a prize, that was a hard task to do, climb a few inches and slide back down. one year at Christmas we had santa claus and his helpers at the park, i still have pictures of the children and grownups lining up at the fence waiting for santa to arrive on a fire truck, we have had so many good events at the park for people to enjoy. we can always look back and think of something to smile about, the people that was a part of it, a lot of them are gone now, but time waits for no one, so we just have our memories of everything. thanks everybody for taking part in the forum, whether it is to write or just read what has been said.
hi everybody i went to walmart's this evening and was standing looking at peanut butter trying to decide what kind i wanted, all of a sudden this man walked up to me and put his hand on my shoulder, i turned around and he asked me how my husband was doing, i was surprised and thought it was someone i knew, he then told me he had a nine hundren dollar check and no one would cash it for him and he asked me for my cell phone number, i wouldn't give it to him and he then asked for 2.00 until tomorrow that his mom was just in a car accident and he was trying to get to tennesee before she died. not really thinking and being caught off guard i gave him 2.00, then he asked if i could loan him 20.00, i told him no and he walked off and approached another man in the isle, this man quickly got rid of him and i heard him talking to another man about the man asking for money, i knew then i had been conned by this man, the man that was shopping walked up to me and asked me if he had asked for money, he said that this man had got him a year ago and he was wise to him, then another man stopped and told me that this same man had gotten him slso for over 20.00, and he was sitting in applebee's this evening eating and the con artist was in there bumming, he walked over to him and told him he wanted his money back but they made him go back to his table and led the guy out. so if someone walks up to you wanting money, don't give it to them, they make more bumming than we do working. i hope this helps another innocent person from being deceived.
hi everybody we got more rain last night, this sure has been a wet july. i sure got a nice surprise yesterday, my neighbor april and her mom linda went and picked me a big bucket of blackberries, they are going to taste good in a pie or cobbler one, it has been years since i have had blackberries, april's dad when he was living always brought me big bags full of poke, you couldn't ask for better neighbors than them. 7 weeks from today is our hardburly homecoming, it will be here before we know it, i am looking forward to seeing everybody. today would have been darrell's 69th birthday, he died when he was 62, seems like the years have gone by so quickly, the 31st of this month billy will be gone a year. everybody have a good weekend, this is the nicest time of the year to enjoy it.
good morning everyone the sun is shining and it is raining, seems kind of odd though. the funeral for the man that died in the ky river reg jail this week was held yesterday, not a lot has been said about it but people need to know what happened to him, and any wrong doing should be dealt with harshly. i went to the farmer's market at the park yesterday, i learned a lesson though, if you buy corn you should clean it right there in the park so if it is not like the one on display, take it back and ask for more, several times i have bought corn and when i get home with it, it is nothing like what it is supposed to be, with tomatoes or cabbage or other veg you can see what you are buying but not with corn or beans, hope i didn't offend anyone but i like to get what i pay for, not something to throw in the garbage. everybody enjoy the day.
hi everybody ollie gene jones died saturday, his visitation will be at maggard mtn view chapel from 6-8 tonight, funeral tomorrow at 11. he owned and operated j&j trucking for many years. he lived at bulan and could often be seen working around on his back hoe, he liked to stay busy. please pray for his family. my thermometer is showing 110 degrees, it is hanging in a sunny spot so that probably helps to make it some degrees higher. everybody have a good day.
