good evening forum, i can always count on another post from fe everytime i get on here, thank you fe for your constant updates on here, you are a real trooper. everyone please keep my brother Jim(Arnold) and his wife Debi in your prayers, their home burned while they were down there to visit mother this past friday night, it was a total loss, they have a long and rocky road ahead of them dealing with the insurance company and trying to put their lives back on track.thank God no one was home so no one was hurt or killed in the fire, please keep them in your prayers. hope that everyone has a good monday, be safe-------------- God Bless -------sam
hi sam i sure am sorry about jim and debbi losing their home, such a tragedy, a life time of work and memories lost in such a short while. may the Lord bless them as they work their way through the coming weeks. tweety it is good to see you posting again. hope everything is going good for you. today is a cool, cloudy day, the flowers on the redbug trees are shedding now, means the end of the winter. blackberry is next in line. many years ago in muddy hollow, way before all the houses were torn down, on the left side of the hollow a woman was outside in her yard hanging her clothes up on her cloths line, all of a sudden a streak of lightning hit her, she died instantly, that shows how dangerous it is when a storm starts, most people think that you need to get under a tree to protect yourself, a tree is the worse place you can get, always try to get inside away from windows or doors, this one man would draw lightning and everytime it stormed, it would try to strike him even inside the house, one day a storm came up and lighning started, he was holding a small child, knowing that he probably would be hit by it, he threw the child away from him, the lightning hit and killed him but the child was unhurt. everybody have a great day.
hi everybody it's a cold blackberry winter day, sure will be nice to have all these cold spells over for the spring, next sunday is mother's day, don't forget to do something nice for them. everybody have a good evening.
Good Moring all. I just got back from Ohio yesterday afternoon seeing mom, she is improving and we hope she will be able to return home soon. Lancelot Gene's e-mail addrss is email@example.com I was telling him you and Frank Taylor ask about him. He is now living outside Dayton, OH in Huber Heights. I'm like fe sure hope this cool rainy weather will soon end and we all can enjoy the spring. Everyone keep mom in your prayers.
hi everybody larry thanks for letting us know about nancy, i hope she will get to come home soon. on another forum some one is asking about a furniture store that used to be in tribbey called high point, i have never heard of it, i know of a couple of grocery stores, and beer joints, located there. one time two competing beer joints were located in tribbey, and one day one owner decided to get someone to ride a horse in the other one's place, someone went and told them what was going to happen and when the man riding the horse started in their door, the lady was standing there with a shotgun, it didn't take the horse rider long to realize he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. another time in bulan a man from hardburly was going to a joint in bulan fooling around with one of the women there, the man's wife got word of it and decided to follow him one night, when she got there this other woman was sitting in her husband's lap and the wife went in and started beating on them, one of the customers there saw what was going on, so he pulled out a gun to prevent anyone stopping her from beating them up, needless to say when she got through the husband was only to glad to meekly follow her out the door. there are so many stories about the goings on here. i hope that no one is offended by me telling these stories, they are just clean stories with no names mentioned, i have the names to go with the stories but i'm not telling. everybody have a good day.
Hey LWP1962, thanks for the info about Gene. I tried the e mail and it did not work, but I will keep trying. Good to hear your Mother is some better and may return home soon. I lived close by when your Mom and Ike Patrick got married. I heard Ike and Hugh play music almost every Sat. in the summertime. Fe, like your stories about Hardburly and Tribby. I can recall a few myself.
hi everybody another dark cloudy day, it is good to get the rain though, we will need the water later on in the summer when it gets hot. lancelot good to hear from you, if you get a chance tell us some of your stories, i bet you have some good ones. one night on main st a party was going on and the camp sheriff wanting to investigate it crawled under the floor of the house where somehow he knew that a hole was in the floor, the woman having the party saw him go under and when he got to the hole she was waiting for him, she poured water through it, he didn't try that again. another time this man and woman was out on a date, the man got out of the car for a few minutes, in the meantime these three boys came by with a gas can and stole all his gas, the girl in the car sat there and watched them, when the man came back out his car wouldn't start, he never could figure out why he had run out of gas, the girl never said a word about it. if at any time you have to do any kind of business, make sure it is clear that it is not to be discussed with anyone else, this happened to one person, and it should have never happened. it can cause a lot of trouble and as you know by the time it gets around to the second person it always is told different, that is like the toothpaste story, it always starts out one way and by the time it gets to the end of the toothpaste, it is completely different, best thing to do is never repeat something that you hear, it could be true or not, destroying a person. everybody thank the Lord for another day, we are blessed in so many ways through the day.
hi everybody HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MOM'S i hope it is a happy one, you don't have to be a mom to deserve a happy, gift giving day, there are lots of aunt's and other people that make sure that children are being treated good and well taken care of. paul couch will be at the hardburly park friday, may 17 at 6:30 for church services, everyone is welcome. karen campbell the pastor of the tribbey church of God will be at the park today from 11am to 1pm for a basketball camp meeting for the kids. karen is always looking out for the park, fixing the fence, painting, picking up garbage, i have passed the park many times and seen her there working, she really cares about the community, there are some faithful ones that are there with her, barbara lickliter is one i see a lot there too, if not for these faithful few, i am not sure what would happen to the park, because there are those that don't care if they tear the picnic tables up or other destruction, knowing that it is not their's to destroy, it is there for the enjoyment for people to have a place to go too, there are not that many parks that i know of in perry co, all of them should be appreciated and taken care of. i can remember when we didn't have anywhere to sit when we went there. looks like the rain is going to stay around for the weekend, frost has even been mentioned for tomorrow night, that is not going to be good on people's plants and flowers, but hopefully it will not get that cold.
everybody have a good weekend. remember the important people in your lives tomorrow, let them know that they are loved.
hi everybody i hope all the mom's have had a good day, from the look of the lines at golden corral in london today a lot of them were eating out. my daughter took me there and we were not in the line too long, but as we were eating the lines kept getting longer and by the time we left people were lined up all the way to the end of the sidewalk, they really had good food too, as always we tend to over eat at a buffet, i ran into the little man that is a store greeter at walmarts, he was there eating. on saturday May 25, memorial weekend, the Little family will be having a family reunion at the hardburly park, we always want to let people know so that everyone will know it will be reserved for the day. they all grew up here in hardburly and i know it means a lot to them to be together here. i have been out trying to cover my plants and flowers, it is suppose to frost tonight, i hope it don't but we have no control over the weather. happy birthday lloyd tomorrow, i hope you have a good one, but with the nice family you have i know you will. i wish you many more. i worked with lloyd over 20 yrs at the po. he has helped so many people over the years, always went out of his way to help them, but he has gained many friends. everybody have a good evening. thank the Lord for another day.
hi everybody it is a really nice day, good to see the sun, it seems to make a day seem brighter. everybody be careful of a scam going on, if you get a phone call and someone says that your medicare card is messed up and they need your check number to correct it, it happened to my sister, they caught her off guard and she gave them the number, while talking to this person on the phone she realized she had made a mistake and told them so, the caller said he would put their supervisor on, they did put someone else on and they started to argue about it, but in the end she had to have every thing changed in her name, so be very careful who you talk to and never give anyone any kind of information about you, these people are trained to trick you, the best thing is never answer an unknown number, it usually means bad business and always check your bank statements to make sure it is correct. after covering all my plants outside last night after the frost warning it didn't frost, when the frost gets your plants is when it is not predicted and you didn't cover them. everybody have a good day.
hello everybody.. hope every had a good weekend.. I had an good birthday sunday and i spend time with my family and a little time with mom.. either friday night or saturday that just passed I heard a noise at the door like somebody was trying to take it off or something.. I hope who ever it was would quit and stay at home at 3 in the morning instead of rambling around peoples houses.. Dont worry I have protection when they enter in.. will one of my friends told me today that somebody trailor got broke into here not long ago.. so everybody be careful and keep your doors locked..
hi everybody tweety someone sure has a lot of nerve trying to get inside of a home when people are there, i am sure that most homeowners have some kind of protection when this happens or they should to be able to protect themselves. looks like the hardburly lodge members have a lot of washing off to do on their building, someone started at the end of the bldg with the door and all the way down the side with chalk writing names and other stuff, it should be easy to find out who did this, as everybody knows the members of the lodge does good things for the community, they have dinners and invite everyone, school giveaways and at Christmas they give toys and treats and another dinner, they are too good to our community to be treated this way. we all should respect the property of others, stay off it and don't try to tear down what others try to build up. paul couch will be at the hardburly park friday night starting at 630pm, everyone is welcome, they sure have some good singing, then next saturday the 25th of may the Little family will be having a family reunion at the park, this is luther (bumper) little's family. my neighbor plowed me a garden spot off and i planted some beans i went out to check on them and couldn't believe that in less than a week the beans are already 2 inches high, now that is fast growing. they sure taste good in the summertime with all the other fresh vegetables. everybody have a good evening.
fe r u going down and listening to paul Friday evening if u r i might come and joining u if nothing dont mess up my plans.. yea some people r brave trying to break in people house while they r home dont worry i do have protection here.. people should respect the lodge and leave it alone..
hi tweety i am sorry about not responding to your post before now, i have been really busy and had not check the posts in a couple of days. i went to the park last night to listen to paul, there were 50 or more there, he had a good service. angie was there with jessica and jeff and a little pup had somehow ended up there, and they fed it some water and then took it home with them to try to find it a good home, jessica went out and got it some puppy food. lloyd rocky was there and he sit beside of me, he had some interesting things to say, he is looking forward to our homecoming, said it was the best one in the state, it really is a good one, everybody looks forward to it. memorial weekend starts next weekend, probably lots of people will be traveling, my sister will be one of them. i hope everybody arrives safely to their destination, the police are going to be out in full force checking seatbelts and everything, they have already started i saw two yesterday that had stopped cars, hopefully this will help so many having accidents. larry let us know how nancy is doing. everybody have a good weekend.
Good Morining. I just got back from Ohio yesterday afternoon. Mom has been there for two months now. She is progressing with her physical Therapy, it's just going to take time, Please continue praying for her. I know she is anxious to get back to KY. Hope everyone has a wonderful week, and enjoy the upcoming memorial day holiday, Be safe.
hi everybody larry thanks for letting us know about nancy, it does take a long time to get better after a stroke. memorial weekend is just a couple of days away, everybody that will be traveling drive safe, i am sure the traffic will be heavy. please pray for kim gayheart, she is in the hospital with pneumonia. i was in the back yard this evening cutting weeds, i heard something breathing hard and looked behind me, my big dog was sitting right behind me and one of the other ones was sitting right beside her, they were just sitting there real quiet like they were there to protect me and they stayed there as long as i did, it started to thunder so i quit working, it stormed last night, some people's electric went off until this morning, our tv went out last night and came back on this morning, that is nothing compared to what happened in oklahoma, that was really bad. everybody have a good night and safe weekend.
I lived in Hardburly back when,,I remember the post office burning-scared me to death, and the 1st time they took us up to the pond I thought it was the ocean-that was the only time we got to go. I remember the bus coming to pick us up to go to town on Saturday and if we were lucky enough to get a 'floating' balloon we'd walk with it up and down the sidewalk-showing it off then a few would gather and we'd let it go watching as it went out of sight. Does anyone remember the Lady that had a daughter and they would both dress like cowboys-cowgirls-and she made their clothes. Also when the creek got big when it'd go down we would go treasure hunting-wading all the way. And the Camp Houses. We lived on 3 streets I think. That's how it worked,if a family moved out of a house and went elsewhere someone else in the Camp would move their belongings to that house-and it was'nt like moving today-needing 2 or 3 big trucks-by the time the man got off work in the mines the wife-friends and kids could have them moved. We'd walk a country mile to trade funny books-make high stepping walking shoes with empty cans and string or lay a can down and tromp on it so it would stick to our shoes. Mama always fussed saying we were destroying our shoes-and if we could find a Sears catalog-we'd go up on the hill to see who could make a plane fly the longest. Once in a while we got to go to the showhouse-and the boarding house-not allowed to walk on that side of the road-I finally learned why-guess they carried on a lot in that place. My Grandfather got killed in the mines there. I've seen the list of miner's killed in that mine-not all were listed but so sad-one was a father and his twins. And the names of some of the workers-definetly a lot of ppl from another country. Sitttting on the front porch eating popcorn or just made chocalate candy-and dear old Dr. Jingles,,,
hi annabanna nice to hear from you and all your stories, i remember a lot of the things you said you did as a child. the hardburly pond is not there anymore, it has been drained and reclaimed, no one is allowed to go back there anymore, i don' know why because people goes all over the mountains in hardburly, but i guess they have their reason. the person you mentioned about the cowgirl outfit is pearl fugate, she loved gene autry, she was really good with yarn, she could sew anything she wanted. there was at least 4 or 5 boarding houses in hardburly at one time and in their spare time the men would gather together and play cards, once two men got into a fight and one of them was killed at one of the boarding places. probably a lot of cars will be on the road tomorrow with people heading back to their homes, please drive carefully. annabanna if you don't care let us know who you are, there are probably people on the forum that remembers you and your family. have a good night everybody.
hi everybody i hope everyone had a good weekend, the weather sure was nice. yesterday my sister and i went to riverside cemetery to clean and decorate our parents graves we had just cleaned around the tombstones and my sister walked to the other end of the graves, i was still there with a hoe cutting some of the weeds around them, i looked down and there was a copperhead, i told my sister and she took off running and hollering all the while doing an indian war dance, i killed it and it took several minutes for her to get the nerve to come back, we didn't have a weedeater to cut the grass but a man cutting grass out from us came over and cut our plots for us, and when he left he said you ladies leave them copperheads alone. this reminds me of another snake story, one day eunice and i were at the hardburly baptist church cleaning and we were in the basement, i had to go upstairs to get something we had left upstairs, just as i got to the top of the steps i looked and there was the biggest snake ever lying there, it had to be there when we came through to go to the basement, i ran back downstairs and told eunice, she started jumping even though the snake was upstairs, there was a door in the basement that opened into the cemetery so we finally got it opened and ran outside, meanwhile there were two men working in dill nucci yard next to the church, we told them about the snake so they ran over and went thru the front door of the church to kill it, when they got to where the snake was, they found two lying there, they killed both of them, then after the excitement wore down eunice's leg started hurting her so i took her to the emergency room at the hospital, after examing her they discovered that when she jumped she had caused a bloodclot in her leg and she spent two weeks in the hospital, so if a snake don't kill you by biting you it can scare you to death and kill you. everybody have a good day and watch your step.
hi everybody the sun sure looks pretty peeking over these mountains this morning. i am wondering if anyone knows what kind of animal it is that digs big holes in the ground. yesterday morning when i looked out something had dug a big hole in the bank in my front yard, and then this morning it had dug a hole in another part of the yard, it dug my holly bush completely up. it has to be close around and knows when my dogs are not here because they are hunting dogs and they would get it, it has sharp toe nails because it left a print of one in the hole, i don't know if it is a groundhog or not, but i sure don't like for it to tear my yard up when it could be in all these hills. i was looking out the window in my back yard this morning and i thought i saw a little bird just sitting there, at first i thought that a snake had charmed it and it couldn't move, if a snake does that it will eat the bird then i looked closer and it was just a big leaf. i need to get away from these snake stories. everybody enjoy the day, say a kind word to someone today, it might just make their day.
