hi lancelot that lady you are talking about is one fine person, you could never tell by looking at her she is ninety, she looks so much younger and acts younger too. she is one of my favorite people, i have lots and she is one of them, i like everybody though. duddlebug i like veg soup too, today i made a big cooker of chili, it's on the stove simmering. sounds like your weather is about like ours, drizzling rain that is suppose to turn to snow tomorrow, but as you said the closer to spring the warmer the ground becomes and it don't stay around long. i look so forward to that. sam and sg, if you talk to your mom tell her i said happy birthday. everybody enjoy today.

fe2004,
Your chili sounds wonderful, my baby sis makes a good pot of chili too. I don't cook much chili because of sodium content. Getting old cuts out most of the good stuff.
I have to go trade today and I hate it. Everything keeps going up in price and smaller in size. I'm getting so I hate to leave the house with the break ins that happen more and more.
Bluejay you and your mom continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
Everyone have a Blessed Day!

hi everybody the snow came a little sooner than predicted, but it is not bad, the roads are not covered, just the trees, it is supposed to rain today and start snowing again tonight, with 2 to 4 ", but the weekend is supposed to be nice, we have made it almost to another week until spring, 8 weeks and 3 days. i got into the subject on how hardburly used to get their water from the hardburly pond long ago, and was told there use to be 3 big tanks on the hillsides that the water was pumped into, and that the pond was off limits to everybody, and if you were caught fooling around it your dad would be fired from his job, but the boys in the community would get carbide lights and pretend they were going possum hunting and sneak up there with their fish lines in their pockets, turn the lights out and sit there and fish. they were always into something whether it was that or sneaking into peoples watermelons that they raised on the hillsides, they didn't do things to destroy or cause damage, just things like that even though that made people mad which is normal when you mess with things that don't belong to you. everybody have a great day.

hi everybody the day has been pretty nice, not to cold, but the snow is supposed to start later on this evening and last through the night. i went to walmart's today before going to the dentist, and it was not to crowded like it usually is when they are giving snow, i guess people are so used to getting out in the bad weather that they don't pay a lot of attention to it any more. i did notice though that ball games are being called off tonight, so i guess the snow is really coming. it sure will be great when we can make our plans to do things, and not have to cancel them due to the weather. duddlebug hope you all don't get snowed in there in tenn. everybody have a great evening, stay safe.

fe2004,
I always heard that the boys went swimming in that pond also. They sure did not get into the trouble that seems to happen to a lot of our people now. Also, I never heard of drugs etc. when I was growing up.
We seem to be having a lot of break-ins here and a lot of people getting shot or killed during the break-ins. Seems as if people now have guns for protection and someone nearly always stays home to protect it. They are kicking in the doors now, we have a metal door-but they can still get in the windows. Some people now have bars over their windows.
It snowed here but not over an inch-but guess what? They called School off. The kids will be going all summer.
Where does your sister live? I'll bet she is ready to come visit you, with the snow she is getting.
Louami, take care and stay warm. I don't know what I would do without my little dogs, they sure do help you when you re depressed as well as all other times. My little house dog (kid) bosses me around and I just do whatever she wants. She is older now and needs a lot of attention which I am glad to give her, she sure has given me a lot of comfort over the years.
Lancelot hope you enjoy this day.
Sam, how is everything there?
Have a Blessed Day everyone.

hi everybody duddlebug my sister lives in ind, i talked to her last night and they still had snow, just like all of us, it is determined to stay on the ground until spring. i know what you are talking about with the break ins we have had three armed robberies around here in the last couple of weeks, people are getting desperate when they start to use guns in robbing people, actually they are desperate if they use a gun or not, i don't think most people will let you break in on them and just take it, most people i would think has a gun to protect themselves. everybody have a great weekend.

Fe2004,
I just talked with Angela, they put her son back in the Hospital, he's in the ER now.
I have a big Baseball Bat if someone tries to come in on me, and I hope I would be able to use it if needed.
We are supposed to get another snow Monday and Tuesday-they have not given an amount yet, so maybe it will only be another inch.
I think people need to use whatever they have if someone breaks in. A former boss of mine told me if they break in knowing you are home, they will kill or hurt you. I think so also.
Please keep Angela and her son in your prayers.
Take care, Duddlebug1

hi everybody duddlebug i will call angie and check on little jerry, i sure hope he is alright. i had to laugh about the baseball bat, if i remember right i don't think you ever let anyone push you around, that is a good idea you have there. tweety i wondered what had happened to you, this winter sure has been a rough one hasn't it, especially trying to get out of the hollow to work everyday. i am going to have to call the county and see if they can do something with the hill in front of my house, it is solid ice and won't melt because the sun don't shine on it there, i don't think it has been this bad all winter, but the county has been really good about working this road, i guess where most of the roads have melted they are not aware of some that's still ice, and if we get snow again, it will be really slick. ky beat south carolina last night 67-58, my daughter sure was pleased about that. we all are excited about a new neighbor that should arrive today, a little girl, she will sure have a loving family when she does come. angie just called and said that they would be doing surgery on little jerry tomorrow, everybody please start praying for him that he will be alright, i do know that prayer does work, we have seen so many things turn out all right for people that have been on this forum when we band together and pray. have a good day and be thankful for all the Lord has blessed us with.

hi everybody it has been a nice sunny day, lots of the snow has melted. i ended up clearing the hill off in front of my house and cleaning the ditch line out, which i didn't mind at all. i love to work outside, the ice in the road was about a inch thick, but it came off pretty good. duddlebug have you heard any more about little jerry, his surgery is in the morning, i hope everything turns out good for him. josephine walters died, she was the widow of luke walters, one of the walters twins who used to live at hardburly. mark said he used to stand in a chair and help wash dishes when he was about 4 years old, and worked in the garden when he was not much older, he can really tell some good stories about his growing up years, he can remember so many people. everybody enjoy the evening and please pray for little jerry, also april and her baby.

hi everybody tweety it is a flare up of a problem he had before, they did the surgery on him yesterday instead of today. the little one hasn't arrived yet, we are so anxious to see her. we got a little snow last night, just a dusting, it sure will be nice when it stops all this stuff, but winter is winter and we have to accept it. the kids didn't have school today, i am not sure how many days they have missed but it has been a lot. i notice that the stores are already putting their spring stuff on the shelves and their garden soil outside, that sure looks good. everybody have a great day.

hi everybody it is starting to snow here, the flakes are really big . it is 40 degrees so it is not going to lay right now but if the temperature starts to drop it will be different, they are giving 3-5 inches of heavy snow which will cause a lot of problems, lets just hope this doesn't happen, i keep counting the weeks until spring and we just have a little over 7 weeks left of winter, this has been a rough one, but it has helped that we got to keep our power and water on. i don't know if the little one has arrived yet, i keep waiting for a call, they promised to call me when it arrived. duddlebug have you heard how little jerry is doing, let me know when you find out. everybody have a good day and be careful if you go out, yesterday i was sure the roads were in good shape and hit my brakes at the post office and started sliding, so you can't really tell when it is just wet or black ice.

hi everybody the 8lb 10oz bundle of joy has arrived, we have been waiting anxiously for her, she belongs to my neighbor, she was 19" long. i know she has a good home and family, both mother and daughter are doing fine. the snow got us again, but seems like it is already starting to melt some, so maybe it won't get much worse. next wednesday is ground hog's day, it don't seem to matter much if he sees his shadow or not, winter is going to stay around as long as possible. they have already called off school for tomorrow. everybody stay positive, the sun will eventually shine again. everybody have a great evening.

good morning everybody the roads are really slick this morning, i went out to feed my animals and the path was solid ice, also the road in front of my house, it might warm up enough today to melt some of it. everybody take a minute to thank the Lord for protecting us through this rough winter, so far we have had our heat and water and been able to go out to the store and dr in between the snows, i thank him every day for all he has done for us, the road gets rocky sometimes but we can look around and see we are still blessed. duddlebug how is the weather there, hope it is not to bad for you. wednesday is groundhog's day, but you can bet as soon as he comes out he will see his shadow, i wonder if there is anything to this, if so i hope he doesn't see himself. everybody have a good day, talk to you later, hopefully with better news on the weather.

fe2004,
We only got a dusting of snow, and the sun is out and the little bit of snow and ice melting really good. I had to go to the Dr. yesterday and did not have any trouble at all. You're right the good Lord has really blessed us even with all the bad weather.
How's your electric bill this month? It seems like every month during the winter Dad's, Angie, etc. all of them has a higher bill regardless of cutting back on electricity-like freezing and keeping all lights off. If I lived up there, I would learn to read my meter and double check-I think you're even charged extra if you request a check of the reading which is awful.
Jerry is home and released to go back to work, Thank you for your prayers.

hi duddlebug1 i am glad that jerry is ok and able to go back to work. sounds like your weather was a little like ours, the snow has been melting all day, but there is a 40% chance of snow later on tonight. talking about the electric bills, they sure were high this month, maybe when it warms up some they will go down, this with all the snow has made it rough this winter. when this girl was little, she went to a neighbors house and on the mantle above the fireplace was a bottle of medicine, she picked it up to see what it was, and on the bottle it said itch medicine, she said huh and set it down, of course the person that had the itch had left the germs on the bottle when she used the medicine, so the little girl caught the itch, she went to school and one of the kids in her class asked to use her pencil, so her wanting the other kid to catch the itch between her fingers, rubbed the pencil through her fingers before she let her borrow the pencil, she didn't want to be the only one that had it at school. everybody have a great evening.

hi everybody it doesn't look like we got any snow last night, it is supposed to be nice for the weekend. i talked to angie last night and she wanted to thank everyone for their prayers for jerry, and asked that you all continue to pray for him, he has gone back to work. i saw gammaw at walmarts yesterday, she is such a nice person, always smiling. i was listening to the scanner yesterday and one of the men had escaped around walmarts, they were bringing him back to jail after being in court, he didn't stay loose long, the police tracked him down and put him back in jail. the only thing this succeeded in doing was put more time on his sentence. everybody enjoy the day.
