I remember the summer of 1980 I was living in one of Ogie Comb's trailers beside the store. The girls would sit on on old drainage pipe beside the road and watch the guys go by. Talmadge Allen would go up and down the road on his dirt bike and every once in a while stop and talk to us. I bet I took 5 or 6 showers a day that summer just in case he stopped. That was also the summer his brother Jackie was killed. The things you remember...

Well I was raised in Hardshell and us boys and the boys from Rowdy had a lot of contest. In the early days a few fights went on. But that was before me cause I have many friends in Rowdy to this day and one of my favorite cousins by the name of Glen Campbell lives there today. OH

I am from Lost creek but I have family in Rowdy. I remember as a little girl we would always go to my great grandma Racheal Campbells house for easter to hunt eggs because she had a huge yard. They also had a garden and we always got to ride in the back of my grandpas truck going through rowdy to go pick corn and tomatoes lol I have a great Uncle Poncho Campell who still lived on that same property today but I never get the chance to go over there anymore

my father Sibo Jones spent a lot of time over that way im sure if anyone remembers him

I lived in Rowdy most of my life. My grandmother and other family members still live there. My grandmother lives in the house that used to be the old Rowdy Grocery and Post Office. I remember lots of good times there with Justin and Dean Napier, Irvin Combs, and several others. Miss that little community now.

Justin or Dean one or the other is living there now just below their Mom. Irvin is over on Rt 15 near Grapevine the last time I had any contact with that family. I know a few of the old timers there - Sue & Larry Allen, Glennis & Davetta Combs; Kenneth & Irma Harvey; Jimmy & Doris Miller.

Bet nobody on here remembers when the Greyhound used that route and a lot of Saturday nights tolls had to be paid before it crossed the Rowdy bridge.

Hello Maggiemae,
Jimmy and Doris Miller are my aunt and uncle. I lived beside the old Mt. Carmel Church in a trailor with my grandmother Lillie and cousin Belinda. Lillie was Jimmy's mother. Does anyone remember the old Rowdy General
store when Sally Kay Campbell ran it? I used to work for her in the store and babysit Jessie. This is a picture of me in the store around 1984.[image]

I remember as a child, all of us kids gathering on the Rowdy bridge looking over the edge and seeing the bluegills on the nest and trying to catch them. This is a list of some of the guys I grew up with: Shane Allen, Arlis Dean Campbell and Anthony, Keith Napier, Scott Napier, Chris Jones,Chris Miller, Ronnie Rae Noble, Romond Lee Noble,Chas and Chris Noble, David and Poochie Campbell The list goes on, Justin and Dean Napier. I remember 1984 I got my first Motorcycle and when I would come home from school the first thing I would do is jump onthat motorcycle and ride it till it got dark. I still remember how fresh the air smells in the spring and summer there. No matter where I've been or how long I've been away that feeling I had never goes away. It is engrained in me. To sanman or maggiemae or whoever else that knows that feeling! I truly am from Rowdy.

Lill Miller's mother and my grandmother were sisters. Remember the Bluegrass singer Roy Lee Centers. He was their cousin. I know that feeling very well - I came home after many years away. Not exactly in Rowdy, but very very near. I am much older than you. Jimmy and Doris are more my age.

TiffanyRae: I do know Phyllis. I left Rowdy about 1998. When I left she was living with Bobby. I seen your pictures. You have that typical Jones look. I remember when I was a child Going by over there on Lost Creek where your papaw's house is still. They had all those garages built there beside the road. I think my dad told me that your papaw's name was Junior. Correct me If I'm wrong. Phyllis knows me. We all used to run up and down the creek from daylight till dark. Those were some pretty trying times for me

Hey all of you. I have been reading all the post and rememberall the guys you all are talking about. I lived in Hardshell just below Rowdy and was best friends with many u talking about esp Jackie Allen. Also Chris that died from diving in a swimming pool in Lex. was a good friend and his brother Dave. We played the guitar many days. I am going to try and down load a picture of me but not that good at it. I got older but still just as wild as I ever was. I had a 67 Camero and 66 GTO back then. I loved my party's then and still do now. OH
